Wolverines Gun For Top Spot at Palomar Invitational

The Women's Cross Country team headed to the land of "Top Gun," Oceanside, to compete in the Palomar Invitational this past weekend.

Despite holding out three of the Wolverines' top five runners, the team posted a fourth place finish. The "Top Gun" of the day was Lilly Armendariz, who clocked in at 22 minutes, 8 seconds. The Oak Hills High School graduate received invitational "Top 10" honors by placing in the top 10 of freshman runners, finishing 19th overall.

Also finishing in the top 30 was Kiani Fernandes (Beaumont), who finished at 23:03.

Yesenia Loreto Rubio and Sophomores Natalia Molina and Iridian Valdivia round out the top five for San Bernardino Valley College.

Following the meet, the team went to see the beach house where scenes from the 1986 film Top Gun were filmed. As we enter a good week of training prior to So Cal Preview, the women's team should have all hands on deck.
