Wolverines Finish Second at Conference Finals

The San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team took second place at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships Friday in Oceanside.

Racing with a case of shin splints, freshman Alyssa Benevides (Redlands) finished sixth overall with a time of 20 minutes, 12 seconds. Fellow freshman Lilly Armendariz (Oak Hills) finished 13th in 21:28, and Kiani Fernandez (Beaumont), racing coming off an illness, finished 16th at 22:35. Both Benevides and Armendariz earned all-conference honors.

The Wolverines finished behind Cuyamaca College in the overall standings, as the Coyotes swept the top four positions and placed their scoring five in the top seven overall.

The Wolverines will now prepare for the Southern California Championships, set to take place next Friday in Santa Clarita.
