2015 Season in Review - Women's Cross Country

First year SBVC coach Eric Abrams led the team to their third straight CCCAA state finals appearance with an 18th place finish at the SoCal Championships. As a reward for their hard work, the team was bestowed with four All-Conference honors.

SBVC grabbed a 15th place finish at the CCCAA State Championship with the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 38th on the 5000 meter course, freshman Fernanda Rodriguez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) with a time of 19:35.1. SBVC grabbed 431 points at this event, finishing 24 points ahead of Cuesta College, the SoCal Championships was held at Woodward Park in Fresno.

The next highest finisher for SBVC was freshman Alyssa Hebb (Redlands East Valley) placing 75th with a time of 20:21.7. Placing 97th place was freshman Alexis Espinosa (San Bernardino Pacific) with a time of 20:48.1. Finishing 180th was sophomore Citlaly Garcia (San Bernardino Cajon) with a time of 21:00.7 and freshman Kimberly Cooley (San Bernardino Cajon) wrapped up the SBVC finishers with a time of 21:09.9, placing 113th.

The Women's Cross Country team collected their third straight CCCAA state finals appearance with an 18th place finish at the SoCal Championships, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 41st on the 5000 meter course, Rodriguez with a time of 20:25.1. SBVC grabbed 484 points at this event, finishing 12 points ahead of Santiago Canyon College, the SoCal Championships were held at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.

The next highest finisher for SBVC was sophomore Jessica Hernandez (Rialto W.A. Carter) placing 97th with a time of 21:44.9 and placing 109th was Cooley with a time of 22:00.2. Finishing 117th was Espinosa with a time of 22:10.6 and Hebb wrapped up the SBVC finishers with a time of 22:16.1, placing 120th.

The Women's Cross Country team grabbed a solid second place finish at the final Foothill Conference Championship, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 2nd, Rodriguez with a time of 18:34. SBVC collected 35 points at this event, finishing 47 points ahead of Victor Valley College. SBVC runners Rodriguez, Hebb, Hernandez and Garcia all took home All-Foothill Conference awards.

The next highest finisher for SBVC was Hebb placing 5th with a time of 19:36 and placing 6th was Hernandez with a time of 19:57. Finishing 10th was Garcia with a time of 20:13 and freshman Cynthia Boyzo (Jurupa Valley H.S.) wrapped up the SBVC finishers with a time of 20:54, placing 12th.

It was an exciting effort for SBVC Women's Cross Country head coach Eric Abrams and his program, there are many things to look forward to in the upcoming season with the change in athletics Conferences to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. In 2016, SBVC will have to face San Diego Mesa, Palomar, Cuyamaca, Southwestern, Imperial Valley, San Diego City, and College of the Desert. It should be a thrilling 2016 campaign.
