SBVC Cross Country prepares for CCCAA Finals this Saturday

The SBVC Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams will head to Woodward Park for the CCCAA State Championship this Saturday, November 21. The women's 5k gets underway at 11 am with the men's 4 mile starting at noon.

The SBVC Men's Cross Country collected a solid and hard fought third place finish and freshman Michael Teran (Fontana Jurupa Hills) won 1st place overall and the team looks strong going into the CCCAA State Finals. Teran gobbled up the 4 mile course in 20:31.2, which was two seconds faster than his earlier time on the course during the SoCal Preview in September.

The Men's team collected a score of 124 points at this event, finishing 18 points ahead of College of the Canyons and 42 points behind the winner, Mt. San Antonio. The event was held at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.

The SBVC Women's Cross Country team grabbed their third straight CCCAA state finals appearance with an 18th place finish at the SoCal Championships, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 41st on the 5000 meter course, sophomore Fernanda Rodriguez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux)  with a time of 20:25.1.

Last season, SBVC's Men's Cross Country team finished in 5th place at the CCCAA state finals while the Women's team finished 16th.
