Wolverines Battle Back Late in Home Opener

The San Bernardino Valley College women's volleyball team got off to a slow start in its home opener Friday night against Cerritos College.

But after a rough first set, the Wolverines were able to pick up their play in the second and third sets, but not enough to knock off the Falcons, as SBVC lost 25-16, 25-17, 25-20.

Ruby Siaosi led the way for the Wolverines, driving home 12 kills, scoring on a solo block, and was strong on defense, recording 10 digs.. Mahalynn Sawyer added seven kills for SBVC, while libero Jordan Segura was strong on defense, recording a team high 19 digs. Setters Aliah Benitez and Jordan Longo set up the SBVC offense, scoring 10 and 9 assists, respectively.
