SBVC Women’s Volleyball lost a tough one against the Roadrunners

SBVC (4-12; 1-3) fought a tough battle against the Whittier Rio Hondo Roadrunners (7-7; 4-0), but ended up losing in five sets with scores of 25-17, 24-26, 21-25, 25-16 and 18-16.

In set two, SBVC had to fight back from a 15-9 deficit to tie the game at 19-19, the Roadrunners would take a brief lead then SBVC stormed back to tie the game at 23-23. The home side eventually took the second set, 26-24.

In set three, SBVC jumped out to an early lead, and then Rio Hondo leveled the score at 9-9. SBVC would once again take the lead and never relinquish it, as they took set three, 25-21.

Freshman setter Nayeli Hernandez (San Bernardino Aquinas) led the team with 31 assists and led the team with 6 service aces and freshman libero Valerie Navarrete (Fontana A.B. Miller) led the team with 20 digs, 3 assists and 2 service aces.

Freshman outside hitter Daeja Lewis (Redlands East Valley) had 5 kills, 2 service aces and 2 block assists and freshman outside hitter Roslynn Hamilton (Moreno Valley Vista del Lago) had 8 kills, 2 service aces and 16 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Stephanie Gilbert (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) led the team with 12 kills and led the team with 20 digs and freshman middle blocker Ariana Cole (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller) had 5 kills and 17 digs.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Yamiq Myles (Moreno Valley Vista del Lago) led the team with 2 solo blocks, 8 kills, and 4 block assists.

The next game for SBVC is when they continue Foothill Conference play by traveling to Cerro Coso, on Friday, October 23, game starts at 5:30 p.m.
