Michael Powell is in his 7th season as the head coach of the San Bernardino Valley College Men’s & Women's track and field program. During his tenure, Powell has had several Wolverines earn All-Conference and All State recognition. He was honored by the Foothill/Pacific Coast Conference as "Coach of the Year” in 2001, ‘02, ‘04, & 2005.

Over the years, Mike Powell has developed speed enhancement programs for professional athletes competing in various sports including the World Series, Super Bowl, and the Olympic Trials. Powell also coached world record holder (4x400 meter relay) Tyree Washington.

Prior to his arrival at SBVC, Coach Powell was the head track & field coach at Eisenhower High School in Rialto, California where he coached numerous California Interscholastic Federation (C.I.F.) and state meet competitors. During his five years as head coach, Powell won the Citrus Belt League championship in 1982, ‘83, ‘84, & 1986.

Michael Powell is an instructor in the Physical Education & Health Department at San Bernardino Valley College. His formal education includes a Master of Science degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa; a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Redlands, in Redlands California; and a Designated Subjects teaching credential from California State University San Bernardino.
