Rain was unable to slow down the San Bernardino Valley track teams as they participated at the Occidental meet on March 10.
Alyssa Benavides posted the third fastest time all-time for a SBVC female in the 5K, clocking in at 18:58.96. The mark also places her 10th in the state so far this year.
Carlos de la Torre made his first attempt at 5K this season, stopping the clock at 15:20.43, which ranks him ninth in the state at the distance at this point in the season. Teammate Eduardo Toris clocked in at 15:43.18, which puts him at 25th in the state.
Michael Ramirez, starting the season late due to injury, finished the 5K at 15:52.97, as he works to get into race condition.
In the 1,500 meters, John Hernandez ran a season best 4:10.48, leading the way for Valley. On the women's side, Darilyn Hernandez dropped 13 seconds off her personal best at the distance, clocking in at 5:21.81.
