SBVC Women’s Track: Hebb finishes 5th and Perez finishes 7th, team finishes 28th

SBVC Women's Track & Field hit the road again for their final event of the 2016 season as they sent 2 student athletes to the California State Championships at San Diego Mesa College. SBVC participated in the 3000 meter steeplechase and the 800 meter run.

Freshman distance runner Alyssa Hebb (Redlands East Valley), continued to impress as she led SBVC to a 5th place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:44.80, just 3.88 seconds behind her nearest opponent and good enough for 4 points. Most shocking of all was that Hebb had dropped 15.26 seconds off of her previous best which was good enough to break another school record.

Freshman sprints runner Savanna Perez (Rialto W.A. Carter) was in the 800 meter run finishing in 7th place, good enough for 2 points, with a time of 2:21.42, just 2.18 seconds behind her nearest opponent and 6.43 seconds ahead of her closest competition.

With 6 points the team finished in 28th place in State, beating the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champs Cuyamaca and falling just short of fellow PCAC opponent Southwestern
