SBVC Women’s Track: Hebb and Perez finish 2nd in their events, team finishes 11th

SBVC Women's Track & Field hit the road again for their final regional event of the 2016 season as they sent 2 student athletes to the SoCal Finals at Antelope Valley College. SBVC participated in the 3000 meter steeplechase and the 800 meter run.

Once again, freshman distance runner Alyssa Hebb (Redlands East Valley), continues to impress as she led SBVC to a 2nd place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:00.06, just 4.52 seconds behind her nearest opponent and good enough for 8 points. Most shocking of all was that Hebb had dropped 7.71 seconds off of her previous best which was good enough to break another school record.

Hebb has dominated the grueling 3000 meter race all season and takes her top 5 state ranking into the CCCAA State Finals at San Diego Mesa on May 20th and 21st.

Freshman sprints runner Savanna Perez (Rialto W.A. Carter) was spectacular in the 800 meter run finishing in 2nd place, good enough for 8 points, with a time of 2:17.84, just 4.68 seconds behind her nearest opponent and 0.27 seconds ahead of her closest competition.

With 16 points the team finished in 11th place in SoCal, tying the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champs Cuyamaca and fellow PCAC opponent Southwestern, as well as dominating Palomar and San Diego Mesa.
