SBVC Women’s Track & Field grabs 5th in 4x400 relay at CSULA Invitational

SBVC Women's Track & Field hit the road again for their third event of the 2016 season as they sent seven student athletes to Cal State LA in University Hills for the CSULA Invitational. SBVC participated in the 400 meter hurdles, 100 meter hurdles, 4x400 meter relay, 3000 meter run, 800 meter run, and the 400 meter dash.

SBVC also finished in 1st place in Heat #2 and 5th place overall in the 4x400 meter relay as the team put up a time of 4:20.05. Sophomore relay runner Cara Littlefield (Grand Terrace H.S.) opened things up, then handed off to freshman relay runner Mariah Gonzalez (San Jacinto H.S.), who gave it to sophomore sprints runner Aisha Johnwell (Etiwanda H.S.) and then freshman hurdler Alicia Sandoval-Paris (San Bernardino Cajon) was handed the anchor leg.

Distance coach Jim Ratigan said, freshman distance runner Alyssa Hebb (Redlands East Valley) " shaved 12 seconds from last weeks' time to finish in 10:55.63 (Heat 2 19th out of 38 competitors) which places her 11th in the state for the 3K distance. This also appears to be the second fastest time in school history." Sophomore distance runner Jennifer Granados (Jurupa Valley Patriot) collected a time of 12:20.48, dropping 8 seconds from last week, which was good enough for 55th place.

Littlefield led the way for SBVC with a 13th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.78 and Sandoval-Paris  grabbed a 16th place finish in the same event with a time of 1:18.89. Sophomore hurdler Briana McField (Rialto W.A. Carter) ran in the 100 meter hurdles, collecting a 21st place finish with a time of 18.19.

Johnwell collected a 24th place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.69 and freshman sprints runner Savanna Perez (Rialto W.A. Carter) ran in the 800 meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:27.35, good enough for 14th place.
