SBVC Women's Track & Field sent eight student athletes to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Finals at San Bernardino Valley College. Of the nine events, SBVC participated in six events, five of which were top 10, two finished in the top 5 and grabbed a Conference Championship in the javelin throw.
Participants in the PCAC Prelims included: Southwestern, San Diego Mesa, San Bernardino Valley, Cuyamaca, Chaffey and Palomar.
SBVC claimed fourth place in the 1500 meter run, fourth in the 800 meter run, sixth in the discus throw, and sixth in the 100 meter dash. All of the throws events were Conference finals and the remaining events, plus the team championship will be decided at the PCAC Finals on the campus of San Diego Mesa College on Saturday, April 18.
Finishing first in the javelin throw was sophomore Tiffani King (San Bernardino Temple Learning Center) with a distance of 28.43 meters, which was 1.13 meters ahead of her nearest opponent. Sophomore Jazmin Romero-Ordonez (Beaumont H.S.) finished fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:53.98, which was 4.6 seconds ahead of her nearest opponent.
Romero-Ordonez also finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.38, which was 0.03 seconds ahead of her nearest opponent. Finishing sixth in the discus throw was freshman Taneeah Madison (Rialto W.A. Carter) with a distance of 29.30 meters, which was 2.35 meters ahead of her nearest opponent.
Freshman Mariah Gonzalez (San Jacinto H.S.) finished sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.22, which was .21 seconds ahead of her nearest opponent.
