Wolverines Post Clean Sheet in Home Opener

After opening the season with a victory at Citrus, and a tie against defending state champion Santiago Canyon, the San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer team opened the home portion of its schedule Friday night with a 3-0 victory over East Los Angeles College.

Playing under the lights in SBVC Stadium, the Wolverines took control early, as Gabriela Marquez put home a corner kick service from Caitlyn Sauceda for the game's opening goal in the 28th minute.

In the second half, the Wolverines were forced to weather early pressure from the Huskies, but limited ELAC's opportunities. The Huskies were only able to get one shot on goal in the game, as they only were able to fire off two in total.

SBVC wore down ELAC's defense for two more goals in the final 10 minutes. Eliana Martinez finished off a Marcela Gallo pass in the 81st minute, then April Regalado deflected home a free kick from Karen Rivera in the 89th minute to complete the scoring. In all, the Wolverines fired off 23 shots in the game, with 10 of those being on frame.
