Garcia Chooses Whittier to Continue Career

A seventh member of San Bernardino Valley College’s state semifinalist women’s soccer team has committed to continue her academic and athletic career.

Monica Garcia, a defender from Bloomington High School, has committed to play at Whittier College, an NCAA Division III school.

Garcia was a second-team All-American selection by the United Soccer Coaches in its Junior College Division III selections. She was a key member of the Wolverines’ defensive core, which only allowed 13 goals during the 2018 season, posting 16 clean sheets. She was also named to the All-West Region team by the United Soccer Coaches.

She also scored two goals (both game-winners) and three assists on the season, while also earning all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors as part of the defense, which only allowed one goal in conference play.
