Jacobs' Four-Goal Outburst Propels SBVC

Sophomore forward Karen Jacobs scored four goals as the San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer team beat MiraCosta 5-0 Friday at home.

Jacobs opened the scoring in the 16th minute, as she took a pass from Nayeli Sandoval on the right wing and her shot snuck inside the far post for the 1-0 lead. Caitlyn Sauceda extended the lead in the 27th minute, taking a pass back from Morgan Simmang and firing a shot through a screen that went inside the left post and a 2-0 halftime lead.

Jacobs completed the rest of the scoring in the second half, scoring the last three goals for the Wolverines, who have now won eight games in a row.

Meanwhile, the Wolverines defense posted its sixth consecutive shutout. The Spartans were able to only get five shots on the SBVC goal, with Vanessa Casillas stopping all five, including a diving save in the second half to preserve the shutout.

The victory marked the end of the first round of Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play. The Wolverines will begin crossover division play Friday at home against Imperial Valley, before playing a nonconference game next Saturday night against Citrus inside SBVC Stadium.
