SBVC Women's Soccer Advances to Elite 8

SBVC Women's Soccer (#5 seed) traveled to Whittier to face the #4 seed Rio Hondo College in a second round CCCAA playoff match. This game pitted former conference foes against one another. In 2015, the last season of the Foothill Conference SBVC Women's Soccer took the Conference Championship with Rio coming in second place.

SBVC dominated the first half of play, outshooting Rio Hondo but the game remained tied at zero heading into halftime. Just over five minutes into the second half, Valley scored their first goal when Calvonis Prentice found Baylee Williams who ripped a shot from 20 yards out over the out stretched hands of the Rio keeper to give Valley a 1-0 lead. Play continued to be fast and physical and with just a few moments left in the game, Calvonis Prentice scored on a pass from Braelyn Tirella to give Valley a 2-0 lead and that sealed the game for the Wolverines. Arianna Rodriguez made five saves to record a clean sheet, it was the nineteenth shutout of the season for the Valley College squad, a new SBVC soccer record for most shutouts in a season.

Valley's record moves to 19-1-3 and with this victory, SBVC advances to the Elite 8 (southern California finals) round of the playoffs and will travel to face Cerritos College on Saturday, November 26, 2016 for a 2pm match-up.
