SBVC Women's Soccer knocks off Mesa College in a 1st round playoff match-up

The SBVC Women's Soccer team faced a familiar foe in the 1st round of the CCCAA playoffs, Pacific Coast Conference South Division Champions, San Diego Mesa College. Mesa entered the game with an overall record of 16-2-2 and was the #12 seed in southern California.

As expected it was another low scoring affair and battle between two very good defensive teams. In the 54th minute, Valley striker Baylee Williams (Beaumont High School) received a pass at the top the 18 from sophomore midfielder Audrey Salas (Moreno Valley High School) and hit a bullet near post past the diving San Diego Mesa goalkeeper to give Valley the lead.  Williams' goal was all Valley needed as the defense that has 18 shutouts on the season took care of the rest!  Sophomore goalkeeper Arianna Rodriguez (La Quinta High School) had 2 saves on 7 Mesa shots in the match helping preserve the victory.

Valley will be on the road and face Rio Hondo College in the 2nd round of the CCCAA playoffs, Tuesday November 22 at 7pm.
