SBVC Women’s Soccer remains undefeated at home, knocks off Knights, 12-0

SBVC (6-1-1) scored their first goal in the 5th and never looked back as they scored eight goals in the first half and breezed to a victory over the San Diego City Knights (0-7), 12-0.

The SBVC offense was attacking early and often as they peppered two separate Knights goalies with 46 shots on net and 27 shots on goal and the San Diego City offense was only able to muster up 4 shots and all of them were on goal. In four home games this season for SBVC, the home side has tabulated a total score of 32-0, opponents have been goalless this season at SBVC.

Freshman starting goalkeeper Arianna Rodriguez (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman goalkeeper Dacia Melendez (Phelan Serrano) combined for the clean sheet, which was the 12th consecutive regular season shut out for SBVC. The regular season streak extends back over a year to September 16th, 2014 when SBVC shutout Mt. San Antonio, 1-0.

Sophomore starting forward Leandra Garlinger (Riverside John Wesley North) got the party started pounded a shot past the keeper in the 5th minute on an assist from sophomore starting defender Tirzah Trejo (Redlands East Valley). Garlinger added her second goal of the afternoon in the 9th minute on a stunning redirect off of freshman starting forward Baylee Williams (Beaumont H.S.), giving SBVC a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore starting midfielder Amairany Rosales (Rialto H.S.) continued the scoring parade in the 17th minute by rifling a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net off an assist from sophomore starting defender Allison Herrin (Redlands Citrus Valley). Sophomore forward Aleyah Coleman (Palm Springs H.S.) added her first goal in the 24th minute on a spectacular lob assist from sophomore forward Mariana Valenciana-Madrigal (Jurupa Valley H.S.), giving SBVC a 4-0 lead.

Coleman scored another remarkable goal, sneaking a shot past the Knights keeper in the 26th minute after an assist from sophomore defender Taylor DeJongh (Redlands Citrus Valley). Freshman forward Meagan Dihom (Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos) pounced on a deflection off of the San Diego City keeper and added her second goal of the season on an unassisted shot, making the score 6-0, SBVC.

Freshman midfielder Calvonis Prentice (Hemet Tahquitz) scored her first goal of the season by smashing an attempt over the keepers left shoulder on an assist from Dihom and sophomore defender Taylor Holstrom (Hesperia Sultana) wrapped up the scoring in the first half by poking a goal into the roof of the net on an outstanding assist from freshman midfielder Alondra Gildo-Ceballos (Fontana H.S.), giving SBVC a 8-0 lead at the break.

Four minutes into the second half, freshman midfielder Audrey Salas (Moreno Valley H.S.) celebrated her first goal of the season on a header off of a corner kick from sophomore starting midfielder Jenny Guyett (Redlands Citrus Valley). Sophomore starting midfielder Julissa Magana (Bloomington H.S.) added her contribution to the demolition by bulging the twine for the third time this season on a fantastic assist from Garlinger, giving SBVC a double digit lead, 10-0.

Valenciana-Madrigal added her third goal of the season in the 64th minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Jazlynn Martinez (Rialto W.A. Carter) and sophomore forward Caitlin Weaver (Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World) wrapped up the scoring on the afternoon, adding her first goal of the season in the 77th minute on an assist from Prentice.
