Wolverines Can't Match Eagles' Big Second Quarter Run

For one quarter, the San Bernardino Valley College women's basketball team frustrated the Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles.

The Wolverines led the Eagles, who came into the game with a record of 23-1, 12-8 after the first quarter.

But the Eagles used their speed, opening the second quarter on an 8-0 run and never looked back, defeating the Wolverines 79-57 Friday night at SBVC.

Mt. San Jacinto outscored the Wolverines 28-7 in the second quarter, going into the break with a comfortable 36-19 lead. They extended the lead, going on an 11-2 run in the opening two minutes of the third quarter, keeping the pressure on the Wolverines.

San Bernardino Valley's Brianne Cheatum tried to put her team on her back, leading all scorers with 28 points before fouling out late in the game. Her sister Brittan added 14 more.

Mt. San Jacinto was led by Delacy Brown, who had 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Kaila Gower added 20 points, while Britney Thomas had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles.
