SBVC Women’s Basketball will face Chargers tonight in SoCal Quarterfinals

Women's Basketball collected the #10 seed in the SoCal Regionals and will travel to the #7 seeded Cypress Chargers, as two Conference Champions collide tonight at 7p.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8.

The team finished the regular season with a 16-8 overall record and an 8-2 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 10 of their final 12 games. Interim head coach Jasmane Clarendon guided SBVC to its 10th Women's Basketball Foothill Conference title and 8th Championship in nine years.

SBVC will have their hands full with a Cypress team that finished the regular season with a record of 23-6, the Chargers were Conference Champions of the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a record of 10-2. The Chargers started the season 7-3, and have won 10 of their last 11 games. Cypress also collected a substantial amount of All-Conference awards including, Coach of the Year for Chargers head coach, Margaret Mohr. 1st team All-OEC for sophomore forward Erika Nilsen (Los Alamitos H.S.) and freshman guard Alyssa Movchan (Cerritos H.S.), and 2nd team All-OEC for freshman guard Domnique Culhno (Lakewood St. Joseph) and freshman center Bianca Silva (Lakewood Mayfair).

The Chargers finished the 2014-15 season second in the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 10-2, with an overall record of 23-8. Cypress was most recently in the playoffs in the 2014-15 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 8th seed, the Chargers lost at Mt. San Antonio in the SoCal Semi-Finals, 63-41. Cypress is coached by Margaret Mohr in her 17th season with the Chargers.

Women's basketball sophomore guard Ashley Carson (Upland H.S.), sophomore guard Jaysheana Martinez-Williams (San Bernardino Arroyo Valley) and sophomore forward Sydney Gray (Las Vegas (NV) Centennial) were all named first team all-Foothill Conference.

Gray finished the regular season second in Conference, behind the Conference MVP, almost averaging a double-double in points per game (14.1) and rebounds per game (9.9). In addition she was very accurate as well; finishing fifth in Conference in field goal percentage (47.3%) and collecting 48 steals. Carson finished with 291 points scored and 12.7 points per game, grabbing 173 total boards and finishing first in Conference steals (90). In addition, Carson also led the team in assists with 92. Martinez-Williams had a good season from beyond the arc for the Conference champs, connecting on 54 3-point shots with a shooting percentage of 36.6% from distance and scoring 363 points, making her the top scorer on the team. Carson and Gray were also named first team all-Foothill Conference for the 2014-15 season.

Women's basketball sophomore guard Jasmine Hickey (Riverside Martin Luther King Jr.) was named second team all-Foothill Conference. Hickey was a solid contributor, averaging 68 assists and 27 steals. Hickey was presented with an Honorable Mention for the 2014-15 season.

Freshman starting forward Katrina Anthony (San Bernardino San Gorgonio) was presented with an Honorable Mention.
