SBVC Women’s Basketball pummels Chaffey, remains undefeated in Conference, 72-44

SBVC (12-11; 6-0) the top team in the Foothill Conference continues to impress after a gutsy victory on the road last week they came home to punish their rivals by 28 points, the Rancho Cucamonga Chaffey Panthers (5-17; 3-3), 72-44.
SBVC jumped out to a 10-point lead seven minutes into the game and with 6:11 left in the first half had built a 20-point lead, 25-5. Chaffey did not even hit double digits until 3:45 left in the first half, when they scored their tenth point, with SBVC up 29-10. By halftime SBVC was up by 24, 40-16 and was cruising.

About five minutes into the second half, SBVC had built a 30-point lead and that's where they would float for the rest of the game. Chaffey would get within 22-points with 3:47 left in the game, but SBVC would go on a 10-4 run to end the game to squash the threat.

SBVC dominated from all sides, winning the points off of turnovers battle with 32 points, compared to the Panthers 6 points and also on bench points, with SBVC grabbing 31 points off of the bench compared to the Panthers 3-points. SBVC also held court in the middle in a lopsided battled in the paint, where the home side had 40 points in the paint compared to the Panthers 18-points.

Freshman starting forward Sydney Gray (Las Vegas, NV Centennial) collected an impressive double-double, grabbing 12 boards and 13 points, going 3 of 4 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Nautica Simmons (San Bernardino Cajon) led SBVC with 14 points on 7 of 12 shooting and four blocked shots. Sophomore starting guard Ashley Carson (Upland H.S.) had all 12 of her points in the second half, shooting 4 of 8 from the field and freshman guard Kiazha Ginwright (Riverside Martin Luther King Jr.) scored all of her 11 points in the first half, shooting 5 of 8 in the victory.
