Wolverines Complete Comeback over Eagles

The San Bernardino Valley College softball team scored twice in the sixth and once more with two outs in the seventh to pull out a 6-5 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College on Wednesday at Chavez Park.

The Eagles had taken a 5-3 lead in the top half of the sixth, scoring three times. But in the bottom half, the Wolverines were able to tie it. With one out, Merina Delgado walked and was followed by a single from Allysia Victorino. Both runners moved up a base when Evangelina Mosqueda flew out to deep center, then scored on Cassandra Ramirez's single.

Mt. San Jacinto got two runners on with one out in the seventh, but an inning-ending double play helped the Wolverines escape into the bottom of the inning with the tie.

In the seventh, Kiara Medina walked, and her pinch runner Angie Macias was erased on a sacrifice attempt from Gabby Ursuy. After a pop out, B.B. Williams grounded a ball that slid under the second baseman's glove into right field, putting runners on first and second. Delgado followed, slapping a pitch into right field. When the ball was not played cleanly, Ursuy came around to score the game-winning run.

Ramirez was 4-for-4 in the game with three RBI, while Victorino was 1-for-2 with two runs scored for the Wolverines.

Medina was strong early on for the Wolverines, striking out four. She also worked out of jams in the fourth and fifth innings without allowing a run.
