Fullerton Outslugs Wolverines in Home Opener

The San Bernardino Valley College softball team pounded out 10 hits, and scored four times Wednesday against Fullerton College.

But the Hornets took advantage of seven Wolverine errors to beat San Bernardino Valley 15-4 at Chavez Park in Colton.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Merina Delgado singled then scored when Selena Roldan doubled one batter later. But the lead was short lived.

Fullerton tied it in the top half of the second, and took control when Tiffiny Centeno reached on a three-base error that scored two runs. The Hornets scored four times in the second and third innings, then five more in the sixth to force an early end to the game. Kaylee Williamson and Nia Rodman homered for the Hornets.

Allysia Victorino singled home two runs in the third inning for the Wolverins, while Evangelina Mosqueda was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Starting pitcher Kiara Medina was also 2-for-3. She picked up the loss, giving up nine runs (six earned) in four innings of work.
