SBVC Softball mercies Barstow in 5 innings, 10-2

SBVC (12-7; 3-1) continues to roll through most of Foothill Conference play as the home side built a ten-run lead at the end of the second inning and cruised as the Barstow Vikings (1-13; 1-3) lost their 11th game of the season to the mercy rule, 10-2.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Alicia Morris (9-4) (San Bernardino Cajon) grabed her 9th win of the year as she tossed two innings of shutout softball, only giving up a hit and striking out two. Freshman right handed pitcher Samantha Ojeda (Grand Terrace H.S.) finished out the remaining three innings, surrendering two runs, both earned, on four hits and walking one.

 The SBVC offensive highlights included a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning by sophomore second baseman Serena Ovalles (Redlands H.S.) who finished the day going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and four runs batted in. Sophomore short stop Lauren Melchor (Redlands East Valley) had another great day at lead off, collecting a 2 for 3 day and scoring two runs and sophomore first baseman Alese Graham (Redlands East Valley) went 2 for 2 with two RBI's on the afternoon.
