Wolverines Run Way Back to State Championships

Kevin Quinteros finished 20th overall and the San Bernardino Valley College men's cross country team finished seventh as a group to advance as a team to the CCCAA State Championships at Fresno's Woodward Park on Nov. 23.

Quinteros finished the four-mile course with a time of 22 minutes, 2.2 seconds, leading the Wolverines' contingent in the race. Elvis Rojas-King finished 20 places behind Quinteros, clocking in at 22:25.0, with Jeffory Phelps not far behind, finishing 43rd at 22:28.8.

Jose Escalante was the next to cross the line, finishing with a time of 22:49.1, good for 59th. Inland Empire Athletic Conference individual champion Alvaro Heredia crossed the line 65th, with a time of 22:57.8.

The Wolverines will now turn their attention to Fresno, and trying to catch the rest of the field. San Diego Mesa, which ended SBVC's conference championship winning streak last season, won the Southern California Championships.
