Michael Ramirez continued his strong season, as the San Bernardino Valley College men's cross country team qualified for the State Championships with a fifth place finish at the Southern California Championships at Don Knabe Regional Park in Cerritos.
Ramirez stopped the clock at 20:09.9, good for 18th place to lead the Wolverines. Luis Garcia was the second Wolverine to finish the four-mile run, with a time of 20:20.3.
Then, the Wolverines' pack came across the line nearly together. Carlos de la Torre (51st, 20:48.1), Mauricio Ramos (53rd, 20:54.1), Humberto Garcia (57th, 21:00.1) and Isaiah Gonzalez (21:01.1) helped push the SBVC team total up to the fifth place spot, helping pass Riverside, which held fifth halfway through the race.
