SBVC Runners Shine in University of Redlands Invitational

The San Bernardino Valley College mens cross country team opened the season with a strong performance at the University of Redlands Invitational.

Freshman Michael Ramirez (Grand Terrace) led the way, taking the victory with a time of 19:32 over the 6K course. In all, the Wolverines placed six runners in the top 18, earning 39 points to claim the team title.

Humberto Guzman (Rubidoux) crossed the finish line seven seconds behind Ramirez at 19:39, good for third place. Sophomore John Hernandez (Canyon Springs) ran well to take seventh at 19:59, while frosh Carlos De La Torre (Patriot) was just a few ticks back at 20:01 for tenth.

A trio of freshman rounded out the Wolverines top seven runners. Mauricio Ramos (Big Bear) took 16th at 20:19, Eduardo Toris (Hemet) clocked 20:25 and Chris Bedolla (Apple Valley) ran 21:02.

The Wolverines race again on Friday, September 15 at the Southern California Preview meet at Central Park in Santa Clarita.
