Once again, sophomore Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) dominated the field, collecting the top spot at Irvine Regional Park for the SoCal Preview Meet, the team finished 4th overall.

SBVC finished with 113 points, 40 points behind champion Riverside City, but 19 points ahead of Glendale on the 4 mile course.

Unfortunately, for SBVC, sophomore Michael Teran (Fontana Jurupa Hills) was out of this race with an illness, but is expected to participate at next week's Golden West Invitational. Subbing in quite nicely was Ortega's first place finish, crossing the line a full 8.6 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent, with a time of 20:31.6.

Collecting a solid top ten finish was sophomore David Hughes (Redlands East Valley) with a time of 21:03.7, finishing in 8th place. Sophomore Erubey Camacho (Colton H.S.) made it in with a time of 21:30.5, good enough for 22nd place and sophomore Christian Sharp (Redlands East Valley) finished in 35th place with a time of 21:45.4. Wrapping up the top five for SBVC was sophomore Josue Lopez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) who collected a time of 22:03.5 to finish in 47th place.

Freshman John Hernandez (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) and freshman Federico "Danny" Juarez (Bloomington H.S.) finished 56th and 91st on the afternoon for SBVC.
