SBVC began the 2016 season at Guasti Park in Ontario for the Cal Poly Pomona Preview Meet, as the only Community College in the field the team finished 4th, behind host Cal Poly Pomona, UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos.

SBVC finished with 93 points, 29 points behind CSUSM, but 44 points ahead of Cal State Monterey Bay.

Everyone is expecting another dominant year from SBVC sophomore Michael Teran (Fontana Jurupa Hills) and he did not disapoint. Showing that he's already rested and ready to lead the pack, Teran finished with a time of 18:57.5 good enough for 7th place. Outpacing Teran by 3.1 seconds, was sophomore Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) who grabbed a time of 18:54.4 to finish 6th.

Finishing in 21st place was sophomore David Hughes (Redlands East Valley) with a time of 19:44.7 and the only freshman in the top five was John Hernandez (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) with a time of 20:13.7, good enough for 29th place. Wrapping up the top five for SBVC was sophomore Erubey Camacho (Colton H.S.) who collected a time of 20:25.1 to finish in 30th place.

Sophomore Josue Lopez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) and freshman Federico "Danny" Juarez (Bloomington H.S.) finished 32nd and 34th on the afternoon for SBVC.
