SBVC Men’s Cross Country takes 3rd & 4th at SoCal Preview

SBVC grabbed the top individual finisher on the 4 mile course at the SoCal Preview Meet Invite, finishing 4th in that race, also participating in the SoCal Preview Meet Open, finishing 3rd as the team traveled to Mission Bay Park in San Diego.

In the "Invite" portion of the SoCal Preview Meet, SBVC collected 130 points, which was 44 points behind the winner, American River from Sacramento. Clearing the finish line first as the top individual finisher was freshman Michael Teran (Fontana H.S.) with a time of 20:33.86, a whole 16.75 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent. Finishing 18.88 seconds behind Teran was freshman Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) who grabbed a time of 20:52.74 to finish third.

The only sophomores in the top five were Derek Barnett (Redlands East Valley) who finished 23rd with a time of 21:47.48 and Daniel Aguilera (Fontana Jurupa Hills) with a time of 22:02.12, finishing 29th. Wrapping up the top five for SBVC was freshman Josue Lopez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) who collected a time of 22:49.64 and finishing 74th.

Freshman Antonio Sanchez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) and freshman Juan Velazquez (Ontario Colony) finished 87th and 97th on the afternoon for SBVC.

In the "Open" portion of the SoCal Preview Meet, SBVC collected 96 points, which was 56 points behind the winner, American River from Sacramento. Crossing the finish line first for SBVC was freshman Isaac Gonzalez (Fontana H.S.) with a time of 22:33.07 on the 4 mile course, good enough for 8th place. Finishing 10.11 seconds behind Gonzalez was freshman Christian Sharp (Redlands East Valley), who finished in 13th place with a time of 22:43.18

Sophomore Cameron Graves (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) grabbed a 19th place finish with a time of 23:02.38 and freshman Jimmy Contreras-Vasquez (San Bernardino H.S.) finished with a time of 23:26.82, placing him in 27th place. Wrapping up the top five for SBVC was freshman Angel Parga (Bloomington H.S.) who collected a time of 23:33.634 and finishing 29th.

Sophomore Ricardo Sanchez (Bloomington H.S.) and sophomore Fernando Bolanos (Rialto  W.A. Carter) finished 32nd and 34th on the afternoon for SBVC.
