SBVC Men’s Track grabs 3rd in 4x100 meter relay at Arnie Robinson Invite

SBVC Men's Track & Field hit the road again for their seventh event of the 2016 season as they sent 8 student athletes to the Arnie Robinson Invite at San Diego Mesa College. SBVC participated in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 4x100 meter relay, long jump, triple jump, shot put, hammer throw and the javelin throw.

SBVC finished in 3rd place in the 4x100 meter relay as the team put up a time of 45.43, freshman relay runner Tre'veon Dozier (San Bernardino Pacific) opened things up then handed off to freshman relay runner Jonte West (Beaumont H.S.), who gave it to freshman relay runner Johnny Moss (Romoland Heritage) and then freshman relay runner Tony Salter (Grand Terrace H.S.) was handed the anchor leg.

In the 100 meter dash, Salter crossed the line first for SBVC with a time of 11.44, good enough for 22nd place and West was right behind with a time of 11.65, finishing in 26th place. Freshman sprinter Kelvon Tisby (Rialto W.A. Carter) led the way for SBVC in the 200 meter dash as he finished 18th with a time of 22.83 and Salter grabbed a time of 23.22, good enough for 27th place.

SBVC finished 16th and 17th respectively in the long jump, with Dozier leaping a distance of 6.15 meters and Moss launching himself 6.10 meters. In the triple jump, Dozier finished 11th with a distance of 11.81 meters and sophomore jumper Lawrence Carter (San Bernardino Cajon) reached a distance of 11.70 meters, good enough for 13th place.

Freshman thrower Andre Bishop (San Bernardino Pacific) and freshman thrower Santiago Castillo (San Bernardino Pacific) each competed in the hammer throw event. Castillo grabbed a 17th place finish in the shot put with a distance of 34.29 meters, which surpassed his previous best by 3.45 meters and Bishop finished with a distance of 35.35 meters, which was good enough for 14th place, surpassing his previous best by 3.82 meters. In the shot put, Castillo put up a 19th place finish with a distance of 11.21.

In the javelin throw, Castillo launched a 14th place finish with a distance of 36.40 meters and Carter reached an 18th place finish with a distance of 33.29 meters.
