SBVC Men's Track & Field traveled to Riverside City College for the Southern California Prelims, participating in 13 events, collecting the top spot in the Discus Throw going into the SoCal Finals at RCC on May 9th & 10th.
Of the 20 events at the SoCal Prelims, SBVC participated in 13 of them, with sophomore Ahmed Abdul-Rahman (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.) grabbing the top of the leader board in the Discus Throw with a distance of 49.02 meters. Other notable finishes included a fourth place finish in the Triple Jump by sophomore Darrian Frazier (Redlands Citrus Valley) with a distance of 14.21 meters and a fourth place finish in the 1500 Meter Run by freshman Oscar Caro (Riverside Norte Vista) with a time of 3:59.69.
SBVC took sixth in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase in a hard fought effort by freshman Anamacio Cardenas (Bloomington H.S.) with a time of 9:50.49 and a sixth place finish in the Hammer Throw by Abdul-Rahman with a distance of 48.43 meters. Caro captured a seventh place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:56.75 and a tenth place finish by sophomore Ryan Jones (San Bernardino Cajon) in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.75 meters.
Taking eleventh place in the High Jump was Frazier, with a height of 1.96 meters and also grabbing eleventh place, but in the 110 Meter Hurdles was freshman Johntae Course (Fontana A.B. Miller) who had a time of 15.56. SBVC also grabbed a twelfth place finish in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 3:24.03.
