SBVC Men’s Track & Field participates in Cal State LA Invitational

SBVC Men's Track & Field sent 20 student athletes to the Cal State LA Invitational in the University Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on March 6th and 7th. Of the 18 events, SBVC participated in nine events, five finished in the top 20, three of which were top 15, and two finished in the top 10.

SBVC claimed sixth and tenth place in the shot put, 13th place in the long jump, 15th and 18th in the 3000 meter run and 19th in the hammer throw.

 Finishing sixth in the shot put was freshman Jose De La Cruz (Beaumont H.S.) who threw for a distance of 10.67 meters, 0.10 meters ahead of his nearest competition. De La Cruz also claimed a 19th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 31.75 meters, which was 0.91 meters ahead of his nearest opponent. Finishing tenth in the shot put was freshman Javier Lora (Bloomington H.S.) who came in with a distance of 10.05 meters, 0.01 meters ahead of his nearest competition.

 SBVC also claimed 13th in the long jump with a distance of 5.15 meters, which was 0.54 meters ahead of his nearest competition. In addition, freshman Nelson Rocha (Fontana Jurupa Hills) grabbed a 15th place finish in the 3000 meter run with at time of 9:10.79 and SBVC also took in an 18th place finish in the same event, with freshman Alejandro Castellanos (Romoland Heritage) crossing the finish line with a time of 9:16.15.
