SBVC Men's Track & Field sent 13 student athletes to the Oxy Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles on March 13th. SBVC participated in the 800 meter run and the 5000 meter run.
Finishing third in the 800 meter run was freshman Derek Barnett (Redlands East Valley) with a time of 1:56.79 and grabbing fourth place was freshman Gabriel Kane (San Bernardino Cajon) with a time of 1:57.25. The top finisher completed the race with a time of 1:51.25, the place finish for Barnett puts him #11 in Southern California and Kane is up to #14 in SoCal.
Finishing sixth in the 5000 meter run was sophomore Justin Doyle (San Bernardino Cajon) with a time of 15:14:05. Then sophomore Jon Dileva (Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) finished eighth at 15:15:99. Sophomore Douglas Palmer (Beaumont H.S.) completed the race in 16th place with a time of 15:20:58. The top finisher in the 500 meter run grabbed a time of 14:14:26. With the top finish for Doyle, Dileva, and Palmer, they are now ranked sixth, seventh, and eighth in Southern California.
