Wolverines Strong in Draw Against LA City

One of the cornerstones of the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team the past few seasons has been its defense.

So far in the 2021 season, that attention to defense hasn't changed.

The Wolverines once again limited an opponent to only one shot on goal Tuesday night, but was unable to find a goal of their own, as SBVC and Los Angeles City College played to a scoreless draw inside SBVC Stadium.

The defensive effort was even more impressive since the Wolverines played the final 35 minutes down a man after Jose Solis was sent off. Even down to 10 players, SBVC was able to control play at times, and even had a couple of good looks at the LACC goal. Ebrima Njie had probably the best opportunity, firing a low shot from about 22 yards out that LACC goalkeeper Luis Villegas made a kick save that preserved the tie.

Goalkeepers Brian Orozco (one save) and Arturo Magana (no saves) split time in goal for the Wolverines for the second straight game.

Overall, the Wolverines outshot the Cubs 17-6, with Villegas notching six saves.
