SBVC Continues Unbeaten Run Through Conference

Five different players scored a goal and the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team fired 47 shots toward goal Tuesday afternoon as they remained undefeated in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a 5-0 victory over Imperial Valley.

Juan Luna opened the scoring in the ninth minute, as he volleyed in a pass off the head of Cameron Smith off a corner kick from Jose Hernandez.

On the wind-whipped afternoon, the Wolverines kept firing at the Arabs' goal, several shots sailing high. But 26 ended up on goal, forcing Imperial Valley goaltender Hugo Parra to make 21 saves.

Hugo Herrera doubled the Wolverines' lead in the 32nd minute, converting a pass from Santiago Mejia to give SBVC a 2-0 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same. Gabriel Sousa shot home a pass from Alexis Torres in the 66th minute to widen the lead to 3-0, with Rafael Flauzino and Santiago Mejia also adding goals for the Wolverines.

Meanwhile the SBVC defense kept the Arabs at bay, only allowing eight shots, only four of which called for Christopher Gomez to save.
