Fred Zaragoza (Desert Mirage) scored in the 80th minute to break a 3-3 tie as the San Bernardino Valley College men’s soccer team opened Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a 4-3 victory at San Diego City College.
The Wolverines (3-3, 1-0) opened a 2-1 first half lead thanks to goals by Jonathan Bonilla (Redlands East Valley) and Lance Diaz (Carter). They extended the lead to 3-1 early in the second half on a goal by Raymundo Zuniga (Citrus Hill).
Abraham Garces went the distance in goal for the San Bernardino, getting credit for one save. Meanwhile, the Valley offense fired 10 shots on the San Diego goal.
San Bernardino plays at home Friday at 3 p.m. vs. Cuyamaca.
