With the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title clinched, and its place in the playoff seedings all but determined, the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team shook up its lineup and protected some players in a 2-0 loss to MiraCosta College on Friday afternoon.

To honor the team's sophomores in their final regular season home game, coach Josh Brown started all eight of them. They held their own until the 31st minute, when a bouncing ball ended up at the feet of MiraCosta's Joseph Kicko, and he pounded it through a mass of players and into the back of the net.

The Wolverines tried to push forward for the equalizer, dominating possession and chances from there. San Bernardino Valley had seven corner kicks in the second half, and a few dangerous free kick opportunities. But nothing was able to get through the MiraCosta defense.

The Spartans finished the scoring on one of their few corner kicks in the second half, as Rafael Carmiero made a front post run and he headed in Ulises Morales' boot from the corner with less than five minutes remaining.

The Wolverines will find out their playoff fate Tuesday.
