SBVC Men’s Soccer rolls over the Roadrunners, 7-0

SBVC (7-4-8; 4-1-1) has not only remained undefeated in their last seven games, they have done so convincingly and did so again on Friday as they chased away the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (3-13; 1-5), 7-0.

On a windy Sophomore Day that boasted gusts of 30 miles per hour, the home side did not waste any time as sophomore midfielder Bryan Oropeza (Corona H.S.) pressed a shot forward and freshman midfielder Hector Hernandez (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) pounded a shot past the Desert keeper 1:05 into the game, to give SBVC the early lead.

Freshman midfielder Alex Gomez (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller) grabbed his first of two goals on the afternoon as he took a ricochet off of the keeper and poked the shot in, giving SBVC a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute.

Freshman forward Ruben Gonzalez (Rialto W.A. Carter) decided it was his time for get in on the action as four and a half minutes later he too would be the beneficiary of a deflection off of the Roadrunners keeper, finding the back of the net in the 19th minute.

In the 24th minute, Gomez placed a perfect assist into Gonzalez who rifled his second goal of the afternoon past the keeper, to give SBVC a 4-0 lead.  Almost 10 minutes later Gomez would bring in the death blow on a Halloween Eve massacre as he plowed another shot into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season and an insurmountable lead for SBVC, as both teams would go into halftime with the home side up 5-0.

Freshman starting goalkeeper Alexis Primera (Colton H.S.) had one of his easiest days of the season only facing one shot from Desert, but it was a crazy attempt as the shot took a bizarre shift in midair when the wind caught it.

Five minutes into the second half, SBVC struck again as freshman forward Alonso Ayala (Fontana Citrus) lobbed a cross into freshman midfielder Aldahir Madrid (Fontana H.S.) who plopped the shot just over the outstretched finger tips of the Roadrunners keeper.

Freshman forward Jose Politron (San Bernardino H.S.) would wrap up the scoring in the 76th minute as freshman midfielder Alexis Barragan (San Bernardino San Gorgonio) pushed up a dazzling assist right in front of the Desert net for the goal.
