Associate Head Coach

Rawlston Charles is entering his third year as Associate Head Men’s Basketball coach and sixth year overall at SBVC. Since coming to SBVC the Wolverines have had a record of 135-30 and includes 3 Conference Championships, 3 Elite Eights and a State Finals appearance. In five years Charles has worked to develop four of the last five Conference Players of the Year, and one California State Player of the Year. Here at SBVC Charles specializes in the academic monitoring of student-athletes, skill development, strength training, recruiting as well as practice and game planning.
Charles comes to SBVC after a High School and Collegiate playing career which started at Marshall High School where he was San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year and First Team All-CIF. Following his high school career, Charles went on to play at Wilberforce University where he was an All-AMC player and conference leading scorer. Charles also had a stint playing professionally overseas in Germany from 09-10 where he was the league’s leading scorer.
Charles' coaching background started at Wilberforce University where he spent a year as a Student-Assistant from 08-09 while completing his B.A. in Social Work. He assisted in player development, strength and conditioning, practice and game preparation. While in Germany, Charles head coached three different club teams U18 Boys, U12 Boys, and the Women's team. Prior to coming to SBVC Charles assisted the varsity boys basketball program at Duarte High School. Aside from coaching at SBVC, Charles is also a volunteer coach for the varsity girls basketball program at Arcadia High School and has coached at numerous basketball camps. Charles holds degrees in Social Work from Wilberforce University, and an M.S. Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology from Capella University.
