Wolverines Rally, Prevail in Overtime

The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team opened the home portion of the 2019-20 season with a come-from-behind, overtime victory, beating Riverside City College 80-75.

The Wolverines struggled out of the gate, and trailed the Tigers by six after 20 minutes. RCC extended the lead to as much as 13 early in the second half. But SBVC chipped away at the Tigers, finally taking the lead with 6:20 to go after a 3-pointer by Brandon Betson. The Wolverines went ahead by as much as five, but the Tigers stayed close. They tied the game with 1.2 seconds remaining, as Sammy Richardson put back a miss to send the game into overtime.

The extra session was dominated by the Wolverines, as they pushed out to an eight-point lead midway through, then held on for the win.

Betson led all scorers in the game, putting in 26 points for SBVC, with Eric Hancik and Nathan Pendarvis each adding 10. Cameron Butler added nine rebounds.

Riverside was led by Keylin Vance, who had 15 points, and Richardson had 10 points.
