The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team used a balanced attack and wore down Mt. San Jacinto in the second half as the Wolverines knocked off the No. 2-ranked Eagles 91-87 Wednesday night.

Five Wolverines scored in double figures in the game as the No. 9-ranked SBVC chipped away at the Eagles after trailing by two points at the half. The two teams traded the lead early on, with the Eagles taking their biggest lead of the game late in the first half, leading by six points. In the second half, the Wolverines took the lead early on, and led by as many as 10 near the midway point of the second half. But the Wolverines could not pull away, as MSJC kept the pressure on.

But in the end, it was the Wolverines' defense that did the job. They held the Eagles to only 41.2 percent shooting on the night, while forcing 22 MSJC turnovers.

Roman Silva and Damani Washington led the scoring charge for the Wolverines with 18 points apiece. Nathan Pendarvis was right behind with 17 points, while adding 12 assists. Eric Hancik had 15 points while Brandon Thompson had 10 points off the bench.

MSJC's Justin Holiday led all scorers with 27 points in 28 minutes off the bench, while David Thompson added 26 points for the Eagles.
