Wolverines Run Away from Spartans Early

San Bernardino Valley College's men's basketball team opened Wednesday night's game on a 19-2 run over 4 minutes, 48 seconds and never looked back as it beat MiraCosta College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game 111-67.

The Wolverines (24-4, 8-0) kept the pressure on the Spartans the entire game, opening up a 31-point lead at the half. Coach Quincy Brewer worked his player rotation throughout the contest, making sure the Wolverines are prepared for the upcoming push for the state playoffs.

San Bernardino Valley had seven players score in double figures, and made 12-of-19 shots from beyond the three-point arc. In all, the Wolverines made 61.2 percent of their shots from the field.

Meanwhile, the defense was unrelenting on the Spartans (7-17, 2-6), as San Bernardino Valley pressured the shooters into awkward and off-balance shots. MiraCosta only made 40 percent of its shots from the field.

Arian Azemi and Chris Johnson led the Wolverines with 16 points apiece, while Craig LeCesne had 14 points and eight rebounds.  Chidi Udengwu had 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

MiraCosta's Cole Barton led all scorers with 19 points.

The Wolverines play their final regular season home game at 5 p.m. Friday against College of the Desert.
