San Bernardino Valley College's men's basketball team shot 53.2 percent from the field, including making half of their 3-point attempts, as the Wolverines cruised to a 95-60 victory over Palomar in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams Friday night at SBVC.
The Wolverines, ranked sixth in the latest state coaches' poll, ran out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back, steadily increasing their lead in the first half. They went into intermission with a 40-27 lead that continued to steadily grow in the second half.
Coming off the bench, Logan Koch led all scorers with 17 points, including hitting four of eight 3-point attempts for San Bernardino Valley. From there, it was balance, as every player in the lineup scored for the Wolverines with sub Chris Johnson adding 11 and Ty Glover scoring 10. Arian Azemi made three of five 3-point attempts -- his only shots from the field -- for nine points, while Craig LeCesne and Kevin McNeal also had nine. The balanced attack also went for minutes, as no player was in the game for more than 25 minutes.
LaVale Coleman-Bell led Palomar with 15 points, as the Comets got into early foul trouble. The Wolverines' defense was also a contributing factor, limiting Palomar to only 32.6 percent shooting from the field in the game.
