SBVC Men’s Basketball grabs a lopsided victory over the Roadrunners, 117-82

SBVC (25-3; 6-1) opened up the game as a steam roller and in the second half, the game turned into a track meet, as the home side knocked off the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (5-19; 0-7), 117-82.

This game was different than the past few home games, where SBVC put together a second half run that sunk their opponents. Against the Roadrunners, SBVC took a 19-10 lead with 14:02 left in the first half, then rolled over the next seven minutes on a 30-3 run, by halftime SBVC had a 29 point lead, 60-31.

Then the second half started and neither team could put together a consistent defensive scheme as both teams ran up their largest second half point totals of the year. Desert hit 13 3-point shots and SBVC hit 12 3-point shots, 11 of SBVC's 12 3-pointers were in the first half alone. SBVC won the percentage battle at the free throw line with 82.6% (19-23) but lost in numbers, as Desert hit 25 free throws (78.1%). SBVC did "win" the second half, 57-51 and the game, dominating in every statistical category. Including, but not limited to: field goal percentage (60.6%), rebounds (49) and points in the paint (54).
