Daniel Algattas begins his sixth season as a member of the San Bernardino Valley College coaching staff.

Before landing in San Bernardino, Algattas was the offensive coordinator at Ventura College, where the Pirates had one of the top offenses in the country, setting school records for scoring, total offense, plays from scrimmage, touchdown passes and first downs.  In 2016, the Pirates were the top offensive team in the state. In his two seasons at Ventura, the Pirates had 66 players transfer to a four-year school mid-year, following football season. In 2015, the Pirates had nine offensive players transfer to four year schools, including six to NCAA Division I, highlighted by two quarterbacks being signed, Ty Gangi (Nevada-Reno) and Brandon Jones (San Diego State). VC also landed a pair of recruits to the Pac 12 Conference, lineman Tyson Rising (Arizona State) and wide receiver Riley Smith (Oregon). In 2016, the Pirates’ offense, under the direction of Algattas, produced four All-Americans: Jake Luton (Oregon State-QB), Jake Colman (San Jose State, OL), Jonte Broski (Freshman), and Cam Taylor (UAB, WR).

Algattas arrived at Ventura College having previously directed the Baldwin Park High School program as head coach and spending six years as an assistant at Mt. San Antonio College. He graduated from Walnut High School, where he is in the school’s football, soccer, and baseball Hall-of-Fame. On the gridiron, he lead his team to its only CIF final appearance and and a 12-2 record his senior year. He was an All-CIF selection his junior and senior year as well as an All-League selection all three years he played on varsity. Coach Algattas concluded his playing career at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as a quarterback. Prior to his arrival in Westwood, Algattas played at Mt. SAC and Colorado State. Following his graduation from UCLA, Algattas joined the staff at Mt. SAC as an offensive assistant and special teams coach, helping lead the Mounties to the 2007 Southern California Championship.

Coach Algattas continued his career as an offensive coordinator at Baldwin Park High School in 2008, helping the Braves set numerous school passing records. From 2009-13, he served as the pass-game coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and kicking coach at Mt. SAC. He helped lead the Mounties to two National Championships, five Southern California Championships, and five Conference Championships. Also, Algattas has had an impressive record of tutoring some of the nations best quarterbacks and helping them move on to such colleges as Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Tulane, UTEP, and San Jose State, among several others.

Besides football, Algattas teaches kinesiology and fitness classes at San Bernardino Valley College.
