Ruben Avila
Outside Receivers Coach

Ruben Avila is in his second season as part of the San Bernardino Valley College coaching staff. Coach Avila has served most recently as a Varsity Defensive Backs/Secondary Coach and Freshmen/JV Head Coach at Riverside Poly High School. He also worked at JW North High School as a Varsity Secondary Coach, helping the Huskies earn back-to-back CIF titles, and served as the Offensive Coordinator for Canyon Springs High School. Ruben Avila just celebrated his 20th anniversary to his wife, Lupe, and together they have five children; Alyssa, R.J., Alex Victoria, Maya, and Brianna. As you will come to see, football is a passion for Coach Avila because it is exemplary of all the trials and tribulations that we see in life. There are obstacles to overcome, adversaries to face, and challengers to meet head on, but when we learn to work together with one another, to create game plans for success, and to work towards a common goal, our next success story is only a goal line away.
