Herrera Leads Wolverines in All-Conference Selections

Freshman quarterback Armando Herrera was named the Offensive Player of the Year, and four other San Bernardino Valley College football players earned first team honors as the American Division Mountain League announced its all-league teams for the 2017 season.

Herrera, from Redlands East Valley High School, threw for 2,169 yards and 16 touchdowns in the 2017 season. He only played in nine games, throwing for more than 300 yards in four of them.

Named to the first team offense were receivers Kellen Pachot (Redlands Citrus Valley) and Brian Boyd (Lafayette/St. Louis, Mo.), as well as utility player selection Jeffrey Proctor (Munster, Ind.). On the defensive side of the ball, safety Kindrick Haynes (Fontana Kaiser) was the only selection for the first team.

Earning second team honors were: Wide receiver Brandin McDowell (Rialto Eisenhower), running back Darryl Turner (Tampa Bay Tech), defensive end Garveia Freeny (Corona Centennial), inside linebacker Nick Como (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) and cornerback Siante Bellanfant (Lavergne/Nashville, Tenn.).
