SBVC Football grabs 53-point victory over the Olympians, 63-10

SBVC (6-1; 3-1) had one of the most productive offensive games in 21 years as they went up 49-0 at halftime and cruised to a road victory at San Diego Mesa (2-5; 0-4), 63-10.

The 53-point margin of victory for SBVC is the largest point differential over San Diego Mesa in program history. Since 1964, SBVC has faced off against San Diego Mesa, 21 times, with SBVC claiming 15 of those games, including a 6-3 record at Mesa. SBVC has not had this large a margin of victory or put up 60+ points on a scoreboard since they defeated College of the Desert in the third game of the 1994 season, 63-7.

Sophomore quarterback Daniel Epperson (Phelan Serrano) went 15 for 18 tossing for 214 yards and 4 touchdowns and was provided awesome protection by his offensive line, as the Mesa did not touch him the entire game. Epperson also carried the ball 3 times for 31 yards, including touchdown runs of 1 yard and 11 yards, combining his efforts on the ground and in the air, he hit the end zone 6 times.

Freshman quarterback Jacob Rogers (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.) wrapped up the game, going 3 for 4 with 18 yards passing.

Freshman running back Deion Walker (Matthews (NC) Butler) had his third consecutive 100+ yard game, toting the rock 10 times for 138 yards and 2 scores. Sophomore running back Carlos Garrett, Jr. (Lithonia (GA) Martin Luther King, Jr.) had his biggest game of the year, carrying the ball 12 times for 75 yards, including a long of 17 yards and a touchdown.

Sophomore wide receiver Mason Rutherford (Ashland (KY) Fairview) led the team in yardage with 3 catches for 83 yards and freshman wide receiver Brandy Holmes (Columbia (SC) Irmo) led all receivers with 2 touchdowns on two catches for 53 yards. Freshman wide receiver Da'Quan Jenkins (Riverside John Wesley North) also had a score, along with 3 receptions for 23 yards.

Freshman kicker Alex Raya (Beaumont H.S.) exited the game in the 2nd quarter with an injury, but not before he converted four extra-point attempts and made 5 kick-offs averaging 58.4 yards, including 3 touchbacks.  Freshman tight end/punter Samuel Dominguez (Riverside La Sierra) and freshman offensive lineman Joey Palmer (Thornville (OH) Sheridan) split the kick-off and extra-point duties for the rest of the game, as Palmer converted his three extra-point attempts.

Sophomore defensive lineman Nick Aguirre (Fontana Henry J. Kaiser) and sophomore defensive lineman Daniel Perez (Colton H.S.) were a terror on the Olympians offense, grabbing a combined 9 solo tackles, 2 sacks for a loss of 22 yards and 5 tackles for loss, totaling 30 yards.
