Adrian Garcia's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning scored Nathanial Sisk with the go-ahead run, and the San Bernardino Valley College baseball team shut the door in the last two innings, as they held on to beat Southwestern College 7-6 Thursday afternoon.

Sisk led off the seventh with an infield single, and was bunted to second by Matthew Glover. Joshua Torrance drew a walk and both moved up 90 feet on a passed ball with Garcia at the plate. Garcia hit the ball into the right-center field gap, where Kyle Pineda made a running catch. But that allowed Glover to trot in from third, breaking a 6-6 tie.

That was all reliever Robert Luna would need. Coming into the game in the top of the seventh, he had allowed the tying run to score on a wild pitch, closing the book on starter Carlos Sernas' day. Sernas was strong in 6.1 innings, striking out four and allowing only four earned runs in the no decision.

The Wolverines got to Southwestern starter Ricky Yoquigua in the second inning. Staked to a 1-0 lead by his offense, Yoquigua was battered around by SBVC. Jason Lopez started the second getting hit by a pitch, then one out later, was on third after a double from Sisk. Glover followed with a single to score Lopez and move Sisk to third, with Glover heading to second on the throw. Josh Torrance popped out to pitcher for the second out, but Garcia came up and slapped a single up the middle to score Sisk and Glover. Jaden Burns followed with a double, and Jacob Johnson singled home Burns and Garcia.

Garcia ended the day 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Both Burns and Sisk scored twice on two hits apiece. Johnson also added the two RBI to a 2-for-4 day at the plate.
